Kids Mean Everything…
November 14, 2015
Kids mean everything to this seemingly unforgiving world. Yesterday, I watched a second grade girl hug and console a first grade boy who was crying over the sudden death of a teacher. I saw another second grade boy saying, “I’m sorry for your loss” to heart-broken adults. I love kids. They alone equal #hope for all of us. We can’t change the world in a day but we can sure see things differently through the tender hearts and eyes of our children. Take care of our kids, people; they truly are what matters. Nurture them, love them and most of all, let’s stop making then conform to the ways of this world. #Peace to everyone in these chaotic times.

Welcome, 2015… Destined, More or Less, to be a Great Year!
I’m not big on resolutions but I do think we all know, more or less, how to make 2015 an outstanding year.
If we want to see a wonderful world around us, we have to make it a wonderful world.
We should judge less, gripe less, resent less, not talk too much, be slow to anger, not be divisive, not be lazy and not be selfish.
We should try to understand, praise more, forgive more, listen more, be peaceful, promote community, be active and be selfless.
Less judgement and more understanding.
We don’t have to agree with other points of view, but we should seek to understand. Understanding promotes a caring and less angry climate.
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” – Atticus Finch
Less griping and more praising.
No one enjoys hearing our gripes. Complaining is infectious and it contributes to an unhealthy environment for everyone. Our whining pushes others away, diminishes our character and never helps us accomplish anything.
Less resentment and more forgiveness.
Why resent others when there is plenty to resent about ourselves? Forgive others and you can begin to forgive yourself.
I love how Mark Lowry says, “Love the sinner, hate your own sin! I don’t have time to hate your sin. There are too many of you! Hating my sin is a full-time job…”
Less talking and more listening.
To be heard, value what others have to say. Then, your words may not be perceived as only background noise.
Stephen Covey says, “Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.”
Less anger and more peace.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” – Paul McCartney.
Less divisiveness and more community.
Blaise Pascal said, “The multitude which does not reduce itself to unity is confusion.” A confused society is a vulnerable society that succumbs to many levels of dysfunction.
Less laziness and more production.
Our accomplishments will be commensurate with our efforts. We reap what we sow. We are defined by our efforts, both good and bad.
Less selfishness and more selflessness.
“Looking out for number one” may seem practical, however, the real way to take care of ourselves is to first take care of others.
“Recognizing truth requires selflessness. You have to leave yourself out of it so you can find out the way things are in themselves, not the way they look to you or how you feel about them or how you would like them to be.” – Harry Frankfurt
I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and selfless 2015.
I see skies of blue, and clouds of white, the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night, And I think to myself….
What a wonderful world.
